Our Story
California Sandwiches began in Toronto's Little Italy in the 1960s when our Grandmother, Nonna Cristina, bought a local grocery store. Originally known as La Rinacente, it quickly became a popular lunch spot as her homemade sandwiches had people lining up around the block. In 1967, Nonna Cristina and her children reopened it as California Sandwiches. Our sandwiches soon became a Toronto favorite.
Today, California Sandwiches remains a family-owned business. We make our tomato sauce fresh daily from the finest tomatoes. Our flagship Dufferin Street location offers an expanded menu to cater to any event, featuring traditional Italian food alongside our famous sandwiches and other dishes that will keep you coming back for more. Our commitment to quality and attention to detail have been crucial to our enduring success and customer loyalty.
